Police Management Institute

Police Management Institute

In 2017, Kenneth was presented with an opportunity that few police executives are granted. He was chosen to attend the Police Management Institute, which is a police executive development program conducted by the School of Business at Columbia University. It was an intense, 9-month long program where he learned all facets of organizational management – including budgeting, strategic planning, human resource management, effective communication, and leadership. Ken learned from the best faculty at Columbia University successful management techniques and strategies that are frequently used in private industry, but rarely used in the public sector. He realized that police organizations desperately need to look to other industries for solutions to some of their most perplexing problems – like how to address officer cynicism and how to improve the quality of services provided. It was here where the desire to obtain his doctorate degree was forged.
